Modeling Temporally Variable Transportation Networks

چکیده
In this paper, a State-Based Dynamic Transportation Network (SBDTN) model is presented, which can be used to describe the spatiotemporal aspect of temporally variable transportation networks. The basic idea of this model is to associate a temporal attribute to every node or edge of the graph system so that state changes (such as traffic jams and blockages caused by temporary constructions) and topology changes (such as insertion and deletion of nodes or edges) can be expressed. Since the changes of the graph system are discrete, the temporal attribute can be expressed as a series of temporal units and each temporal unit describes one single state of the node or edge during a certain period of time. The data model is given as a collection of data types and operations which can be plugged as attribute types into a DBMS to obtain a complete data model and query language.

Assessing Temporally Variable User Properties With Dynamic Bayesian Networks
Bayesian networks have been successfully applied to the assessment of user properties which remain unchanged during a session. However, many properties of a person vary over time, thus raising new questions of network modeling. In this paperwe characterize different types of dependencies that occur in networks that deal with the modeling of temporally variable user properties. We show how exist...
متن کاملA Systematic Method to Analyze Transport Networks: Considering Traffic Shifts
Current network modeling practices usually assess the network performance at specified time interval, i.e. every 5 or 10 years time horizon. Furthermore, they are usually based on partially predictable data, which are being generated through various stochastic procedures. In this research, a new quantitative based methodology which combines combinatorial optimization modeling and transportation...
متن کاملHow Do Vegetation Density and Transportation Network Density Affect Crime across an Urban Central-Peripheral Gradient? A Case Study in Kitchener - Waterloo, Ontario
The relationship between vegetation, transportation networks, and crime has been under debate. Vegetation has been positively correlated with fear of crime; however, the actual correlation between vegetation and occurrences of crime is uncertain. Transportation networks have also been connected with crime occurrence but their impact on crime tends to vary over different circumstances. By conduc...
متن کاملTemporally Adaptive A* Algorithm on Time-Dependent Transportation Network
Traditional solutions to shortest path problems on time-varying transportation networks only use traffic information at definite moment so as to ignore the fact that the travel time through a link is dependent on the time to enter it. In this paper, the travel speed instead of the travel time on each link of road networks was modelled as a time-interval dependent variable, and a FIFOsatisfied c...
متن کاملA Benders' Decomposition Method to Solve Stochastic Distribution Network Design Problem with Two Echelons and Inter-Depot Transportation
In many practical distribution networks, managers face significant uncertainties in demand, local price of building facilities, transportation cost, and macro and microeconomic parameters. This paper addresses design of distribution networks in a supply chain system which optimizes the performance of distribution networks subject to required service level. This service level, which is consider...
